The number of deaths had to increase being only a few years away from 2016 because at that time there was a great rise in deaths related to gun related incidents. The Article also shows that Background checks and Identification requirements could also help reduce the amount of gun deaths. A 57% background check when purchasing firearm or ammunition could reduce the number of deaths by 81%. A identification check could also have reduced the number by 82.5% according to the article. These specific checks should be enforced to greatly reduce the number of gun deaths which have also increased since 2016.
