It is a big issue that some civilians are able to own military grade weapons. According to the article ProCon a stricter gun control law would restrict civilians including hunters from owning military grade weapons like an AR-15. The AR-15 was apart of the assault rifle ban of 1994 which then expired in 2004. The expiration of this ban made this weapon available to the public again and now the public has access to attachments that can make this weapon more deadly and illegal. Attachments include “folding, detaching, telescoping stocks or even more deadly grenade launchers. In the shooting at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas the shooter had heavily modified assault rifles including multiple AR-15’s which were only a few of the 23 weapons discovered by authorities. This proves that AR-15 assault rifle’s should not be owned by the public due to the damage and upgrades that are available to the public.
