Strict background checks of individuals should be done when purchasing guns or other weapons that could be used in mass murders. It is proven that depression, bullying, anger problems and abuse in the beginning of a life could cause that person to act negatively towards others. In the Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooting the attacker was a former student at the school who had been kicked out due to his behavior. It was proven in this case that the shooter was 18 years old has a troubled childhood and suffered from certain illnesses that could have caused him to take the actions that he chose on that day in 2018. A detailed background check could have shown that he suffered from mental illnesses which means that he should not have been able to be in possession of those weapons.
